bead peeps swap n hop #2

After taking it easy for the past month or so, it is now time to hit the ground running! The Bead Peeps Swap n Hop has begun once again! (and if you’ll remember from last year’s inaugural event … this is a blog hop of gigantic proportions hosted by Linda Anderson)

The event sees participants from around the world paired up together – with each sending the other an assortment of components including a handcrafted focal piece, a clasp, coordinating beads and other delights in the hopes of challenging their design skills and encouraging them to create items that perhaps may contain parts they have not normally worked with or thought of before.

Partner pairings were announced last week, and I’m thrilled to introduce my bead swapping buddy Robin Kae Reed of Artistry Handcrafted Bead Designs.

Robin is a self taught jewellery designer, whose favourite method of jewelley making is stringing, but she enjoys all methods of creating pretty pieces and describes her style as boho chic. Hmmm … I can get behind that!

She enjoys working with natural gemstones, silks, leathers, stones, found objects, and she loves crystals. This should be an easy match to come up with some great bead mixes – with so much to choose from!  Maybe challenging her with different colours of components (she predominantly loves shades of green from turquoise to forest!) would be interesting. Let’s see what we can come up with!

Here are a few lovely examples of Robin’s work found on her website;

Are you interested in seeing more of Robin’s creations? She has much more available on her facebook page and in her Handmade at Amazon shop!

I guess it’s now time to get busy putting together some ingredients!

Stay tuned for more to come!
